Cleaning rims – what to use to clean steel rims?

CITRINE

How to wash steel rims?

To wash rims non-invasively and flawlessly, you primarily need the right rim cleaning product that will handle even the most stubborn dirt.

In the case of steel rims, regular cleaning is especially important because it protects them from accelerated rust formation.

First of all, choose dedicated car cleaning products, namely CITRINE TFR, which works perfectly for washing steel rims.

We do not recommend cleaning with the Amethyst Rim Cleaner deironer – it was created for painted and aluminum rims.

Chemicals for cleaning steel rims

Steel rims that are not protected with protective coatings often catch deposits that are harder to remove. In such situations, CITRINE Traffic Film Remover works great as a product for regular care, because it works effectively while not accelerating the corrosion processes of steel rims, unlike the classic bloody rim cleaner – Amethyst Rim Cleaner.

When steel rims are dirty, use our CITRINE TFR. It handles road film, insects, greasy stains, and other contaminants well. It’s a highly concentrated product that can be diluted depending on needs and the degree of dirt

If the regular concentration of 1:20 doesn’t handle the dirt on your steel rims – try a stronger solution, up to 1:10.

CITRINE TFR for cleaning steel rims gives the best effect for this type of rim – in the first stage you remove salt and road deposits, and in the second you bring the rim to perfect cleanliness by working the product out of greasy deposits.

Cleaning steel rims – how to remove difficult dirt?

Steel rims are more resistant to mechanical damage. Unfortunately, they often corrode. Cleaning steel rims should start with a strong agent, which is heavy dirt remover – CITRINE Traffic Film Remover. Its alkaline pH effectively removes road dirt and grease.

Also remember to thoroughly rinse and dry the rims after washing – preferably with soft microfiber. This way you’ll avoid streaks and smudges.

Products matter, but…

If you’re still wondering how to clean rims most thoroughly – remember that it’s not just about chemicals. Appropriate tools will be very useful. Each rim is a different story – different shapes and gaps require the use of soft-bristled brushes and detailing brushes.

Also remember that cleaning heavily soiled rims in passenger cars should be done using car cleaning products that are both safe and effective. This way, you can be sure that the products will not damage the surface or negatively affect the structure of the rims.

How to wash steel rims? – practical tips

How to wash rims without leaving streaks, smudges, or damage? Learn a few rules:

  1. Always work on a cool surface, away from the sun.
  2. Apply Citrine TFR to the dry rim surface and wait 2 minutes
  3. Rinse with pressurized water.
  4. If the rim is still dirty – apply Citrine TFR again at the appropriate concentration and work the product in using a brush or scrub brush. Rinse with pressurized water and optionally dry the rim with a microfiber towel.

Regular care of steel rims

Regular cleaning of car rims is not only a visual matter, but also an investment in durability and safety. By choosing the right product, such as CITRINE Traffic Film Remover, you have a guarantee of the highest effectiveness.

For steel rims, performing this treatment regularly is a good solution, because it prevents dirt accumulation and hinders corrosion development. Road salt in winter can quickly weaken the surface if dirt is not systematically removed.
